Beginning on September 26, I will start a sermon series based on Leonard Sweet’s book, “11 Indispensable Relationship You Can’t Live Without.” While the book has 11 relationships, I have picked out 6 and we will look at various biblical people as our examples of these 6 relationships. Each one of us needs to have each of these type of people in our lives. We will answer questions such as:
Who’s Your Jonathan? You need a True Friend.
Who’s Your Barnabas? You need an Encourager.
Who’s Your Peter/Paul? You need a Yoda.
Who’s Your Nathan? You need an Editor.
Where’s Your Jerusalem? You need a Place.
The invisible 12th You need the Paraclete.
I’m excited to begin this series and my prayer is that not only do we have each of these people in our lives, but that we are these people for someone else. Invite someone to come with you to worship as we explore these relationships.
We had a wonderful time with Steve Smith of Haitian Island Ministries. The combination of both Bell City UMC and Sadlers Chapel UMC special offerings totaled just over $5,000.00. I give God thanks for allowing me to be a part of such extravagantly generous churches.
We will begin a new Bible study in the near future, I’m just not sure when. I have ordered the DVD and participants guides for “The Power of a Whisper: Hearing God, Having the Guts to Respnd.’ This is written by Bill Hybels and promises to be a insightful study as Hybels challenges us to be more in tune to God’s voice. But not only hearing God’s voice, also responding to His voice. I will let you know when this study will begin and let’s fill up the Wesleyan classroom for this study. It will only be a four week study.
It is Charge Conference time and ours is on November 15 at 7pm at Trinity UMC in Bloomfield. We will be finalizing a few committee meetings between now and then and all are encouraged to attend the Charge Conference.
Again I want to thank the congregation of not only Bell City UMC but also Sadlers Chapel UMC for allowing me to be a part of what we are doing for the cause of Christ in our communities.
Serving Christ with you,
Pastor Andy
